Dogs move through puppyhood, into adolescence and onto adulthood and each stage brings about change.
The adolescent stage begins around 6 months of age and lasts until around 18-24 months old, depending on the dogs breed.
Adolescence is when puppies become more independent and more interested in the outside world and
they can forget the training they had as a puppy!
As 'Teenagers', adolescent dogs have a harder time paying attention to you because everything else is so stimulating.
Their brains are changing as well as their hormones and their bodies are growing fast so
with all this going on inside of them, it's not surprising that their behaviour also changes!
The adolescent stage can be a frustrating time for Pet Parents but
by having patience during this time and focusing on what you can do with your dog,
they will transform from a Crazy-Canine into a Thriving Teen!
